Ripple’s CTO Revealed Crypto Selloffs He Made In 2012

Madbyte News - October 1, 2020

What was Bitcoin's value over the last several years on October 1st? In 2012 it was super low at $11 USD, with the first halving only 2 months away. In 2013 it was at $127 and the Cyprus banking crisis hit the financial markets. Also, during 2013 was the first time Bitcoin passed the price of gold for a brief moment.
In 2014 it was valued at $387. By the end of the year it was given the title by The Guardian as the worst investment of the year. Mt.Gox exchange had failed and Ethereum did its ICO (Initial Coin Offering) and the silk road website was taken down. Tim Draper bought a good chunk of Bitcoins at auction and was predicting it to go to $10,000.
In 2015 it was lower at $238 but in 2016 the price was at $614 with the second halving having happened. During 2017 it reached a lofty $4404. 2017 also was when ICOs became popular with a few blockchain projects raising over $200 million. In 2018 Bitcoin was at $6601 and the ICO frenzy died. During 2019 it was $8334 and some exchanges continued to get hacked. Bakt opens futures trading and bitcoiners are talking about the third halving in 2020. And so today bitcoin is valued at about $10,600.
Most of those years saw massive changes up and down in value. For example, in 2013, there was a massive rise of 10,250% from $12 to $961 but in 2014 it dropped 52%. If you look at Bitcoin valuations from the October 1st lens it seems like a great time to buy especially after a halving.
We continue to see Bitcoin as the number one crypto for a portfolio even though almost every week we see another new cryptocurrency pop up. Some of them even hit the top 10 on Coinmarketcap very quickly. For example, UNI (Uniswap) is up over 2700% on Binance since it was listed on Sept.17, 2020. But history shows that most altcoins over the long term are not very successful.
Be careful of FOMO but happy investing, From the Madbyte Team.
-- In summary, Bitcoin, on October 1st was: 2020 - $10600 2019 - $8334 2018 - $6601 2017 - $4404 2016 - $614 2015 - $238 2014 - $387 2013 - $127 2012 - $11

Cryptomarketing in 2020: successful application of strategies from MLM and the beauty industry

Cryptomarketing in 2020: successful application of strategies from MLM and the beauty industry

Cryptomarketing in 2020: successful application of strategies from MLM and the beauty industry
Over the past decade, the crypto-industry has proven to be a unique industry with a specific audience, which requires a no less specific approach. In this regard, in 2020, the advertising activity of crypto companies is significantly different from that to which banks and various financial companies resort. Industry leaders prefer not to rely on traditional online advertising on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. They follow a different path: they work with bloggers (opinion leaders and influencers), rely on MLM marketing referral programs and actively organize various contests and sweepstakes with generous prize pools. The CoinDesk portal claims that crypto marketing this year is strikingly reminiscent of marketing in the beauty industry, and here it is no less effective.

General concept

Michelle Fan, a blogger with a million YouTube subscribers, is using the same techniques to spread skin care life hacks and the idea of financial freedom through bitcoins. Moreover, she assures that the leaders of the crypto industry, like her, use marketing schemes from the beauty industry, even if they themselves do not know about it.
Both areas prefer to use the DTC (Direct to Customer) business scheme, independently creating and then promoting and selling goods / services, working as closely as possible with the community. Sales are built through aggregated retail platforms like Amazon, Etsy and Shopify, or even through accounts in popular social networks.
Industry leaders in developing countries often resort to the latter option, where large sites like Amazon simply don’t work or aren’t popular. For example, Michelle Haber, a bitcoin maximalist from Libya, made it clear in CoinDesk’s comment that social networks and chats are today the most effective way to distribute goods / services in crypto topics. He said that local traders in order to “educate” the audience help buy hardware wallets, selling them through groups on social networks. Buying yourself Trezor or Ledger in another way is often simply impossible.

Work with opinion leaders

Michelle Fan is not the only person from the crypto-community who notices the similarities with the beauty industry. So, Maria Paula Fernandez, who actively uses the services of the DeFi sector and is seriously interested in the topic of skin care, gave the CoinDesk portal a similar comment.
She notes that in both cases, society has become accustomed to relying on the opinion of society itself, rather than trusting the views of the world’s leading media. Therefore, in both sectors, the so-called influencers are very popular — opinion leaders and bloggers who disseminate information among their audience on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other social networks, receiving a reward for this.
Crypto-companies very often, like firms from the beauty industry, provide their products to opinion leaders for review and further “instruction” of their subscribers. Maria Paula Fernandez does not see anything shameful in this. Observing the experience of bloggers, subscribers begin to acquire a kind of crypto-education and disseminate the information through the word of mouth. Thus, the crypto-community grows.
The most successful bloggers over time can count on sponsorship from one or another crypto company.
For example, the podcaster Marty Bent, whose show is now funded by Unchained Capital and Square, the developer of Cash App, witnessed this scenario. The latter, by the way, in addition to Bent sponsor also podcast Joe Rogan and rapper Lil B.
Many other large companies, including the Kraken exchange, have resorted to this strategy. They are just as interested in sponsoring reputable content creators who promote products among loyal subscribers. The U.S. exchange sponsors the Reckless VR crypto start-up, founded by Udi Wertheimer for crypto-conferences in virtual reality, and the famous podcast Peter McCormack, who launched his own media brand Defiance last year. Having started his career as a hobby, McCormack turned it into a business of his life, thanks to which he earned about $1 million for 2019.
With all this, working with bloggers is a great opportunity to enter foreign markets. This is understood at Crypto.com, where they use opinion leaders to attract the Russian-speaking and Turkish-speaking community. Does this approach give a result? Judge for yourself: over the past six months, the number of startup users has doubled and currently stands at more than 2 million people.

Referral Bonuses and MLM Marketing

The development of products within the community often turns into MLM marketing strategies, which require the presence of referral bonuses and bonuses “in depth” — favorite schemes of cosmetic brands. They use a multi-level reward system for attracting partners, where you can usually get a bonus not only for personally invited, but also for “friends of friends and their friends”. Thus, opinion leaders who distribute crypto products often receive a portion of the funds that people invited by them will pay for the product / service.
The relevance and effectiveness of the trend is confirmed by the fact that these methods are not shy to use not only crypto start-ups, but also top cryptocurrency companies, widely known throughout the industry. A prime example is SatoshiLabs, a company that manufactures and distributes Trezor wallets. The head of communications, Iva Fizerova, confirmed that she is actively resorting to “affiliate marketing” with bloggers as an alternative to paying them for direct advertising.
No less vivid examples are the largest crypto exchanges Binance and Gemini, which managed to succeed not without the help of referral systems copied from the multi-level marketing campaigns Avon and Mary Kay, which they have been using for decades.
Instagram blogger Chjango Unchained has been earning good bonuses for several months running after posting a referral link to Gemini on her profile. When her subscribers register on the exchange and buy cryptocurrencies worth more than $100, she receives $10 in BTC. According to her, she is doing a good deed. The blogger wants people who are interested in her opinion on digital money to start their crypto path on Gemini, and not, for example, on Coinbase, because the latter charges “crazy commissions”.
Referral system bonuses are a typical phenomenon for many crypto companies, and successful bloggers are happy to use this. A prime example is Michael Gu, known by the pseudonym Boxmining. It has been distributing information about digital money since 2012, having gathered an audience of more than 200,000 subscribers on YouTube and more than 3,500 participants in Telegram chat during this time.
Despite the fact that the manufacturer of hardware wallets Ledger does not sponsor its activities, it places referral links in the video descriptions and collects voluntary donations from subscribers. As you might guess, he feels rather well. At the same time, he emphasized that user activity during the coronavirus pandemic is only growing, especially after YouTube began to put sticks in the wheels of the creators of crypto-content.

Gifts, contests and sweepstakes

Making a small gift is a great way to introduce an audience to a new product. In the cryptocurrency market, this has long been relevant.
Coin creators eagerly carry out airdrops and bounty campaigns, allowing the crypto community to test the new coin. A similar approach is popular in the beauty industry. Samplers of perfumes and branded magazines with smells have led many girls to buy full-fledged versions of the fragrance.
In addition to the cryptocurrency developers themselves, a similar approach is also used by cryptocompanies of a different direction, which cannot conduct airdrops due to their technical features (for example, this is true for manufacturers of hardware wallets). Therefore, they organize more classic contests and sweepstakes. For example, they play a wallet for reposting on social networks or videos published on YouTube.
It is noteworthy that cryptobrands in this area are even more active than cosmetics manufacturers. They work not only with trusted bloggers with many subscribers, but also help to become less “untwisted” users. Therefore, they periodically assist them in organizing draws in order to attract subscribers who could potentially become new customers.
Iva Fizerova from SatoshiLabs confirmed that Trezor manufacturers periodically help users attract new followers through the distribution of gifts. Moreover, this approach brings excellent results. By working with the community this way, they have managed to sell hundreds of thousands of wallets. But most importantly, a reputation of the brand has formed around the product, warmly received by the audience. And this effect is so strong that the company simply does not see the point in spending money on traditional expensive advertising.
Most importantly, despite all the problems of 2020, including the coronavirus pandemic, which seriously hit the global economy and, accordingly, people’s wallets, demand for products did not fall. This approach remains effective, while the percentage of successful conversions in traditional advertising has probably decreased. Fizerova noted that over the past three months they have recorded a steady increase in demand for goods. Moreover, they even had to solve delivery problems, if only the buyers got the desired devices in a timely manner.
A similar approach and results are observed with other manufacturers of hardware wallets. Thus, Rodolfo Novak, co-founder of Coinkite, confirmed the growth in demand for products, despite the pandemic. Working with the community is their main marketing strategy, because it really gives results. Over the past three years, they donated about 50 wallets to YouTube reviewers. Novak is proud that their “users help other users.” According to him, this approach allows you to sell products at a lower price, since the cost of goods does not include high costs for familiar marketing campaigns.

Are marketing strategies effective? More than

The cryptocurrency market relies on marketing strategies that have established themselves in the beauty industry, which in the new field are no less effective. Maximum performance is achieved with a killer combination of all three of the above methods. It’s about when the founders of cryptocompanies themselves become opinion leaders. Just look at Changpen Zhao, the head of Binance, or Justin Sun, the project manager of TRON. Both entrepreneurs are bloggers with a huge army of subscribers and are personally engaged in the promotion of their brands, regularly rewarding their audience with pleasant gifts.
It’s easy to guess why industry leaders rely mainly on this type of marketing. Advertising products in the traditional way is expensive, especially for startups, behind which there are still no attractive products with a good reputation. But more importantly, crypto products are quite complex in themselves, so they often need detailed explanations, which are difficult to implement in the framework of traditional advertising. Agree that selling a bottle of Fanta with a new taste is much easier than a hardware cryptocurrency wallet, especially since most people don’t understand what it is.
On top of that, regular advertising is complicated by the fact that media giants regularly block crypto content.
In such a situation, marketing borrowed from the beauty industry seems to be the most acceptable and most effective option. By focusing their marketing budgets on opinion leaders and working with the community, cryptocompanies achieve the desired result, even taking into account the coronavirus pandemic. The crypto community is getting bigger and stronger every day. But the best part is that this growth cannot be stopped.

White Paper, Miner, Pizza … | "Old Objects" in the Cryptocurrency Museum

White Paper, Miner, Pizza … |

Museum has played the role of a time recorder. Talking about bitcoin, more than ten years has passed since the creation of it. Although it is uncomparable to the stock market with a hundred years of history, during the ten years, in the different stages of the development of bitcoin and blockchain have continuously poured in geeks, miners, speculators, newbies, leaving keywords such as sudden rich, myth, scam, belief, revolution, etc.
There are also many “old objects” with stories in the “Museum” of the cryptocurrency realm. On Museum Day, let ’s review the stories brought by these “old objects”.
The First Digital Currency White Paper — Bitcoin White Paper
On Oct. 31, 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin white paper — A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System in the cryptographic mail group where he belongs, and Bitcoin was born since then.
A white paper is a document that explains the purpose and technology used in cryptocurrency. Usually a cryptocurrency uses the white paper to help people understand what it provides, and it is also an important information channel for investors to understand a project. Therefore, the level of the white paper affects people’s confidence towards the coin.
In a word, in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, the value of a white paper is equivalent to that of a standard financing speech. The white paper plays a vital role in this emerging market.
The First Public Bitcoin-Physical Transaction — Pizza
Since Satoshi Nakamoto mined the Bitcoin genesis block on January 3, 2009, Bitcoin has only been spread among the small crowd and has not realized its value.
Not until May 22, 2010, Bitcoin enthusiast “Laszlo Hanyecz” bought a pizza coupon worth $25 with 10,000 bitcoins. This is the first public bitcoin-physical transaction. Bitcoin has its price with 0.3 cents per bitcoin.

This day has also become the famous “Bitcoin Pizza Day” in Bitcoin history. Bitcoin as the imagination of the financial system has more practical significance. The tenth anniversary is coming. How will you commemorate it? Will you buy a pizza?
The First Digital Asset Exchange — Bitcoinmarket.com
After the birth of Bitcoin, in addition to mining, the only way to get Bitcoin in the early days was to conduct transactions on forums or IRC (commonly known as Internet Relay Chat). However, this method involves both long transaction time and great security risk.
In March 2010, the first digital asset exchange — Bitcoinmarket.com launched. However, due to lack of liquidity and transaction depth, it disappeared soon after its establishment, but Bitcoinmarket.com opened the era of the operation of the cryptocurrency realm exchange 1.0.

On June 9, 2011, China’s first Bitcoin exchange — Bitcoin China (BTCChina) launched. Its founder, Yang Linke, translated Bitcoin into Chinese “比特币” for the first time. In 2013, China’s bitcoin trading entered the golden age, and exchanges sprung up. China monopolized more than 90% of the world’s bitcoin transactions. Now, if the top three exchanges Binance, Huobi Global, OKEx are the Exchange 2.0, then the index exchange represented by 58COIN called the 3.0 version, leading the trend.
The First Generation of High-Performance Miner — ASIC Miner
When Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin, the only way to get it is to use computers (including home computers) to mine, mainly relying on the CPU to calculate. However, as the value of digital currencies such as Bitcoin has become higher and higher, mining has become an industry with the competition is getting fiercer, accompanied by increasing difficulty of mining. Therefore, hardware performance competition starts.
In July 2012, the genius Jiang Xinyu (Internet nickname is “Friedcat”) from the junior class of the University of Science and Technology declared at the forum that he could make ASIC miners (chips). As far as mining computing power is concerned, ASICs can be tens of thousands or more higher than the same-generation CPUs and GPUs.
At the beginning of 2013, Zhang Nanqian (Pumpkin Zhang), a suspended doctoral student from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, developed the ASIC miner and named it “Avalon”.

In June 2013, the Friedcat’s miner USB was finally released, and it maintained 20% of the computing power of the entire network.
At the end of 2013, Wu Jihan, used the tens of millions yuan earned from Friedcat through investment, worked together with Jenke group, to develop the Antminer S1. Since then, the miner manufacturer Bitmain began to enter the stage of history.
It is no exaggeration to say that Friedcat and Zhang Nangeng have opened the domestic “mining” era.
The Birthplace of China’s Bitcoin — Garage Coffee
It is not only the “old objects” that record history, but also a place that everyone in the cryptocurrency realm aspires to.
Guo Hongcai once said, “Without no The Garage Café, there will be no cryptocurrency realm today. Since it is a very mysterious place that all waves of people from the café joint together to create today’s digital asset industry.

▲ In March 2013, American student Jake Smith successfully purchased a cup of coffee at The Garage Café with 0.131 bitcoins. This move attracted the attention of CCTV, and it conducted an interview.
Indeed, The Garage Café is the world ’s first entrepreneurial-themed coffee shop. It has been legendary since its establishment in 2011. The Garage Cafét is not only the core coordinate on China’s Bitcoin map, but also the birthplace of the Chinese cryptocurrency circle, where digital asset realm tycoons including Guo Hongcai, Zhao Dong, Li Xiaolai, Li Lin have made their ways.
The development of digital currency is only 11 years old. Through these “old objects”, we review the various stories of this wave of technology together, hoping to help you understand the development process of the digital currency field. Meanwhile, I also remind all practitioners to use history as a mirror and forge ahead.

Binance CEO Makes Another Bullish Prediction – Bitcoin To Reach $100,000

Binance CEO Makes Another Bullish Prediction – Bitcoin To Reach $100,000

Changpeng Zhao Also Thinks The Recession Would Soar Bitcoin’s Market Capitalization To $2 Trillion
The crypto world fell under the hits of the global economic downturn, due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak. While the stock market wiped almost 40% of its gains, many saw Bitcoin to be a safe haven asset in times of global crisis.
However, the world’s largest cryptocurrency to date failed to stand up to the beliefs of a significant portion of the crypto sector, falling to sub-$4,000 levels, before regaining some of its momentum. Despite the recent rallies, the 30% drop, leading to massive sell-offs, led to lowered trading volumes and market capitalization.
Now, amid Coronavirus outbreak and the U.S. Federal Reserve’s plans for close to $6 trillion stimulus issuance, the financial world may see vast inflation. The Federal Reserve, as well as the national banks of most of the COVID-19-affected countries, plan to print colossal amounts of cash and inject them into the economy. During the havoc, crypto bulls are stepping up their game. Some of them even predicted Bitcoin to hit $100,000 per coin.
One of the most notorious Bitcoin bulls, Binance’s CEO Changpeng Zhao, made another bullish statement on Twitter. He noted that “when speaking in trillions, a modest prediction of $2 trillion market capitalization would mean Bitcoin’s price will be $100,000 per BTC.
Zhao’s predictions come amid the U.S. Senate giving its approval to distribute $2 trillion in relief packages to U.S. citizens affected by the virus outbreak. The stimulus package is by far the most significant rescue deal in the history of the United States.
However, most of the Bitcoin bullishness comes from the long-awaited Bitcoin halving, scheduled for May. The halving process means the reward Bitcoin miners get from mining a block would be cut in half.
„Most of us agree on the fact that the moves by the U.S. Federal Reserve would drive increased inflation so that Bitcoin may become a hedge against the depreciation of the U.S. Dollar. The halving process and the current global financial situation may drive a drastic positive impact on Bitcoin, as well as on the entire crypto sector in the medium and long-term timeframes.” eToro market analyst Simon Peters stated.
Meanwhile, the crypto mining community awaits Bitcoin’s halving. The reward for mining a block would fall from 12,5 to 6.25 BTC, which cuts the new Bitcoin supply. A halving occurs once every four years, with previous events in 2012 and 2016. The ultimate goal is to reduce the mining price until Bitcoin reaches its maximum coin supply of 21 million BTC. However, Bitcoin won’t reach 21 million BTC in circulation at least for 100 years ahead.
CoinCorner’s CEO Danny Scott commented on the possible trends in front of Bitcoin, citing that “Bitcoin received a massive positive push in the months after a halvening, which now may be boosted by the current COVID-19 disease.”
“Despite the halvening, the COVID-19 crisis led to massive sell-offs for fiat cash, which caused liquidity crisis and global market drops. Even gold lost some of its momentum.” Scott concluded.

How to trade Ripple

How to trade Ripple

Ripple cryptocurrency was developed in 2012 by Ripple Labs and is a decentralized protocol based on a consensus registry. The main advantage over other cryptocurrencies is low cost of transactions, low fees and high bandwidth. Another feature - coins paid as a fee are burned, so that the volume of Ripple is gradually reduced.

Trading strategies

The exchange rate of Ripple correlates with the rate of other cryptocurrencies weakly, in particular with the rate of Bitcoin, which significantly affects the dynamics of altcoins price. Ripple is suitable for long-term investment, because it is based on an idea that can be used in the financial environment. You just need to choose a good time to buy.
Trend indicators such as MACD, Bollinger Bands, and RSI can handle this task. These trading indicators can be found on the Tradingview charts, which are integrated into the Trade-mate.io service, providing tools for automatic cryptocurrency trading. In your personal cabinet you can trade Ripple on three trading platforms at once: Binance, BitMEX and Poloniex. In addition to autotrade, the service provides smart trade and panic sell functions for instant sale of cryptocurrencies on all exchanges at once. Smart trade allows you to set up trailing stops to increase profit when trading.
In short-term trading, popular technical indicators and TA figures work well. Due to the low correlation with other cryptocurrencies, Ripple can be used as an asset hedging tool. The figure shows that the “Double bottom” figure worked well.

Ripple system protocol is widely used in the banking sector, so it is used for cross-border payments and currency exchange. National banks are integrating the protocol to ensure payment security. Regular news about a partnership with another large bank may provoke a rise in the Ripple rate.

Ariel Ling, co-founder and COO of BitMax, has shared her thoughts on the current state of digital assets and what to expect in the next years, what retail investor should take into account when buying any cryptocurrencie and the key factors that drive the value of the token/coin.
Ariel Ling, BitMax COO
Why, when and how have you started your crypto journey?
I started my crypto journey at the beginning of 2018 when my long-time friend, the co-founder and CEO of BitMax.io, Dr. George Cao “pulled” me out of the traditional Wall Street and asked me to join him in launching this exciting venture. Three main drivers are 1) to learn more about blockchain technology and its transformational applications in different industries; 2) to leverage in-depth traditional finance expertise to improve overall crypto trading and exchange market structure for better efficiency and transparency; 3) to have a chance to work with a talented and driven team who share similar vision, passion and conviction to build a top global digital asset trading platform as well as a wonderful organization from good to great!
If your friend will ask you: should I consider cryptocurrencies as investment opportunity? What will be your answer? Will you recommend any specific digital asset?
Coming from traditional finance perspective, I would explain my thoughts process from three angles — 1) types of crypto or digital assets as the foundation for understanding; 2) whether they, are more for short-term trading or mid-term investment 2) what are elements for investment valuation and decision-making so our friends can assess and make decision for themselves.
First, in general there are three types of digital assets:
  • Major currency / coin-type like Bitcoin, ETH, XRP, Litecoin, etc. and stable coins;
  • Security-type tokens representing some equity or debt rights of underlying projects;
  • Utility tokens for usage on specific blockchain platform or network.
Each type represents different type of opportunity and risk.
Second: is digital asset good for trading or investment? due to the nascent nature and very short history of market development with most of retail investors’ participation and lack of proper regulatory framework globally, there are quite some market manipulation, speculation and fraud activities in the current market, causing significant volatility and investors loss across all types within very short period of time. This made it very hard for any investors to assess the real valuation and momentum drivers behind those large swings. So at this point, I would think with its high volatility and risk, digital asset in general is more of very short-term trading product than investment vehicle. From liquidity perspective, major currency/coin-type will have more market depth across exchanges, hence more suitable for short-term trading-focused strategies.
Third, from traditional investment perspective, it is critical to assess digital asset investing from valuation and fundamental perspectives, such as business model, future growth, economic return vs. person’s risk tolerance and investment objectives. For major coins, especially Bitcoin itself with its longest history among all the digital assets, have started to provide certain payment function similar to fiat currencies in certain countries. Hence, there are more interesting dynamics to the Bitcoin investing based on one’s view of Bitcoin usage over mid-term horizon and the relative valuation vs its production (mining cost) especially with the price down to 3,500–3,650 USD. For security-type or utility tokens, the performance over short-to-medium term really comes down to combination of intrinsic value of underlying blockchain projects and token economics. Similar to Internet in 1990s, blockchain technology projects are still at the early stage of development and looking for meaningful and applicable use cases to bring real economic benefit from the economics and business model perspective, so it becomes very difficult to apply traditional finance valuation and assess the real intrinsic value of those projects. Recent market crash has brought many of those tokens down to near zero value. So the investment in those tokens are extremely high risk and everyone should be really careful and prudent in the evaluation of any specific projects for the decision-making and risk protection.
What is the story behind BitMax? Who are the foundefounders? When it was founded?
Q1 2018, Dr. George Cao and I founded Global Digital Mercantile (GDM), global operator of digital asset platforms, including BitMax.io based on Singapore for overseas markets and North America’s trading platform aiming for the first half of 2019. BitMax.io started public beta testing mid July, 2018, and was officially launched later mid August. On November 18th , we launched our mining mechanism, the industry very first transaction-mining & reverse-mining mechanism, which has made us the industry leading third-generation cryptocurrency exchange — after first generation of traditional exchanges like Binance, Gemini, Coinbase, etc. and 2nd generation of transaction-mining ones like FCoin, Bitthumb, etc.
Just a quick introduction of my partner. Dr. Cao studied Computer Science in the University of Science and Technology of China, and earned his PhD degree from the University of Chicago. Dr. Cao was the Founder and the Chief Investment Officer of Delpha Capital Management, LLC., New York, specializing in trading equity, ETFs and commodity future products in all major exchanges across the globe. He is also the founder and managing partner of Whitestone Investment Group, a New York based venture fund that invests in a large variety of startup companies that are in the high tech, fintech, big data and medical area. Before founding Delpha Capital, Mr. Cao worked at the Equity Division of Barclays Capital in both the New York and London offices. During that period, he oversaw equity electronic trading in the U.S., European and Asian markets. Prior to Barclays, he researched and traded U.S. equity as a Portfolio Manager at Knight Capital Group.
For me, I have built more than 18-year extensive experience in strategic planning, business development, financial risk management and regulatory implementation across major trading asset classes (Equity, FX, and Fixed Income) at several top global banks. Previous to jumping into digital asset trading, I ran USD liquidity and investment product for top financial institutions and corporate clients at tier-one global investment bank. Before that, I ran US Broker Dealer as COO and head of Business Development for Germany 2nd largest bank. Earlier from 2007 to 2012, I was global equity trading COO across Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital, building out trading franchise and market making businesses globally. I have four degrees — graduated top of class from Nankai University with two Bachelor degrees in Finance and English Literature and got my MBA from NYU and Master of Mass Communication from University of Georgia.
Where is Bitmax located? Are you a distributed team or do you have an office to work together? How many people work for Bitmax?
Our global team of 50 members are based off two main location — New York with 20 members, including all the founding members, and Beijing with 30 members.
Would you be so kind to introduce briefly the core team members?
Both George and I are very proud of our 10-member founding team. Similar to us, they are all from Wall Street top firms like Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, and top high-frequency hedge funds with deep experience in the fields of financial engineering research and development of large-scale quant trading infrastructure. Our educational background span across multiple prestigious institutions including Columbia University, University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, and New York University in the United States, as well as Peking University and Tsinghua University in China. So one special thing about BitMax.io is that very few exchanges in the crypto trading space are built by solid team like ours with strong traditional finance mindset and trading background.
You’ve started BitMax during market downtrend in pretty competitive environment. What is your value proposition? Why traders should switch to BitMax?
I think BitMax.io is actually very special in this market, and our team is very proud of what we have built in the short period of six months. There are at least three reasons I think traders should chooseBitMax.io:
  • It’s our real-word professional trading experience and expertise;
  • It’s is our platform, resilient, high volume quantitative-trading platform;
  • It’s is our top-quality customer-centric strategy.
First of all, as I mentioned in the last question, architected by a group of Wall Street veterans, BitMax.io builds upon the core value of blockchain, transparency and reliability, and delivers high-quality client services and trading experience through its innovative trading platform.
Second, our quant-driven tech platform. Our development members were all from high frequency and quantitative systematic trading shops. They definitely make sure the platform was resilient and it can actually handle billions of volume during the design and build. The platform resilience and scalability were fully being tested when we launched the transaction mining and reverse-mining. The first day, we actually had, within the first 24 hours, the trading volume of 1.6 billion in notional; and our system didn’t flinch, didn’t slow down, and didn’t shut down. This is very rare in any of today’s exchanges where you can frequently see the slowdown, the crash, and very slow user responses, especially with transaction mining exchanges.
Third, what we are extremely proud of and all the users can see, is our 24/7 customer services built upon the core Wall Street client-centric concept. Besides our customer support team who never sleep, George actually stands behind the platform almost 24/7 answering questions from the customers, seeking solutions for their issues, and providing the most responsive customer service for the entire crypto trading space.
BitMax CEO, George Cao, is often seen in official Telegram group answering different questions.
We constantly remind our team: customer first. When we design a product, when we launch a system, and when we look at user needs, we all look from customers’ perspective, from how we can protect the users. When we look at primary listing, we only select the high-quality projects because we want our users to have the best investment and trading experience on BitMax.io.
Are you satisfied with the current results of BitMax? Is transaction mining model giving expected volume? What is the % of traders using this model?
We are very pleased with current business development and delivery results from client acquisition and trading perspectives.
On the business development side, we completed the global setup for both 50-member team organization and comprehensive legal entity structure from Asia to North Americas in 2018, which laid down foundation and paved way for 2019 business expansion especially with US.
Since our platform launch in mid Aug, we successfully started Industry FIRST transaction mining and reverse-mining exchange and built out the most active global communities and users within four months in the bear market, with registered users more than 95k; average daily active traders more than quadrupled since the start of transaction mining; average daily trading volume of $465mm through the month of January and February in 2019. Those are extremely promising under this tough market condition.
From the composition of trading volumes, there are two parts — transaction mining which grows exponentially; second is organic, the regular trading which has experienced healthy increase as well because of all the listing activities and all the incentives we have. The regular trading takes about 5% of total trading volume, which is very good for an exchange which was launched in August and running right into the bear market.
What are the key factors that drive the value of the token/coin?
From traditional finance /investment view token economics is really a balance act between business / economic model and exchange market force, driven by three factors: intrinsic value and sustainability, supply and demand, and liquidity and depth.
First, from a traditional finance perspective, we need to look at the intrinsic value, the economic valuation behind a project. How does this project make money? Do they really have fundamentals? Do they really have a viable business model? Do they really have a solid user base for future growth? For example, our exchange business model is very simple. We are exchange; People trade on our platform. The more they trade, the more transaction fee the exchange collect — the revenue source. The exchange will last when people keep trading on the platform and the transaction revenue generated covers the operating cost of running an exchange.
Second, it is the supply and demand of token on the market — who will buy and for what purpose; who will sell and under what scenarios. For major currency coins like Bitcoin, people might buy and sell for potential investment or use in actual payment processing. For other types of token, it is more driven by short-term trading pattern and profit taking. So it is extremely important to set up certain token mechanism to support the equilibrium of supply and demand like how Central Banks manage the supply of currency in circulation through monetary policies.
Third, when the market force comes in, it comes down to the liquidity and depth. Exchange is about liquidity and market depth. That means there has to be enough of trading volumes at each pricing level for each token. For BitMax.io, we have very sophisticated market making model that is similar to Designated Market Maker model of New York Stock Exchange. We focus on providing liquidity and maintaining a fair and orderly market for those token listings who agree to engage our market making services.
Every exchange is looking for good projects in order to become a premiere market for this new asset. Can you name some projects that impressed you recently (even if you are not discussing possible listing with them)?
BitMax.io has strict listing requirements in order to identify high-quality projects for our users. Very proud that we have listed five industry star projects in the last several weeks, with more in the pipeline. All of them have the following attributes that made them successful — viable and profitable business model, growing user bases, strong community support, and comprehensive funding sources.
One of the shining examples is European project named LTO Network listed mid Jan. Its price has been steadily rising since then, as more and more people get to know their business model and more project support comes into the market place to buy the tokens — It uses blockchain technology to streamline a lot of legal processing for one of EU governments, which is very easy to understand its economic value from a revenue perspective. This is simply what people need to see eventually, clean and clear from business economic model perspective.
Let’s imagine a crypto market in 5 or 10 years. Can you make any prediction what the market will look like? What customers will expect from exchange in 5–10 years?
Based off my long-time experience in traditional trading, especially how equity market evolved last twenty years, I would imagine maturing market structure and entrance of institutional investors are key mandatory and healthy development of digital asset market.
First, As the market develops and expands globally, traditional institution participation is a must, in order to upgrade and strengthen the overall market structure and maturity, making it more transparent and resilient, and most importantly enabling the real broad-base adoption of digital assets. Most institutional investors, such as mutual fund, pension fund and other financial institutions, hold the majority of world investment assets, not individual retail investors. Only when those big guys join the market, will there be real revolutionary improvement and expansion of the digital asset just like any other financial markets.
Second, I would expect the market to become more structured with major building blocks for transparent trade life cycle processing and separate risk analytics supporting services. Current crypto trading market is very fragmented with exchanges taking on different roles of trading, wallet management, custodian, etc. Also the lack of clear and consistence regulation on market structure has led to many aspects of market inefficiency — inconsistent liquidity and depth, wide spread, high transaction cost, high volatility, speculation, etc. This definitely hampers the broader adoption of digital assets from institutional investors.
Forward looking, multi-tier structure under some level of regulatory framework with clear guidance is required for future maturing market. Similar to security market, there should be at least three layers of different and independent roles: the role of broker dealer to handle the client relationship with good KYC/ AML processes, retail clients, other financial institutions, blockchain players and to take client order as agent or dealer; the role of exchange to focus on listing and trading — liquidity provision and order matching; the role of clearing house to provide clearing and settlement and custodian on custody of assets with proper control and independence. It is very clean and clear with good check and balance in place.
What are the key challenges for 2019?
During our 2018 business planning, we clearly view 2019 to continue being full of challenges with market uncertainty from both asset price and valuation as well as regulatory development globally. In prep for that and further growth of our platform, we have laid out the following four main strategic objectives and they are all well underway:
  • To launch North America trading platform for high networth and institutional clients. With North America being heavily regulated market, there are two aspects of our plan — First is to leverage a trust structure to facilitate the major coin trading with fiat, and the second is broker-dealer license application with potential for securitized tokens pending regulatory guidance in place.
  • To enhance BitMax.io platform and reach global top-tier exchange. We will continue listening to our users and working hard to enhance user interface and experience by upgrading website vs. other competitors for better client retention. We will continue leading product innovation among the competitors with margin trading (successfully launched in mid Feb) and then derivative to attract new clients.
  • Relent focus on implementation and expansion of current business lines — listing, Market Making, marketing advisory services to grow current revenue base; and further seek new revenue opportunity through North America platform while maintaining cost discipline.
  • we are always on the lookout in terms of exchange alignments, acquisition target, and any business partnership from different aspects of the value chain.
When do you expect a market recovery or next bull run? What are the factors that will influence the start of the market recovery?
With current market crash or correction, there are two possibilities from trading perspective — recovery depending on whether this is a V down or U curve. The U curve occurs when the market collapses, it takes a longer time for market to find the bottom and struggle to rise up. The V down is like a quick collapse — dropping down very fast and reaching the bottom, and then, with some catalyst event, either catalyst from market structure, or catalyst from the market expansion itself, suddenly it gives a boost and bounces right back up.
For market recovery, besides all the investment and economics elements I’ve discussed above, I believe one critical factor is the regulatory development especially clear guidance from key regulatory bodies of those major financial markets such as US, UK, EU, etc. on those key building blocks I mentioned in the maturing market structure. Once those in place, more traditional institutional investors will be ready to get in and hence boost the liquidity and valuation of the digital assets. That is the new beginning of digital assets being accepted as part of Main Street investment globally.

Top 10 Richest People in the World, in Bitcoin

Bitcoin has been given the nickname “digital gold”. This is because of its characteristic as a store of wealth. Many big investors are resorting to Bitcoin as a good place to put their money. The reason for this is not just because it can be sustained, but also because of the high tendency of appreciation in value. Here we shall be considering the top 10 richest people in the world, in Bitcoin.
We will take a look at their net worth, and how much that amounts to in Bitcoin. We will also consider their primary business and a little bit of their history. How they started out in the Bitcoin ecosystem and what they have achieved so far will also enable us to understand more about them.
So, here is a list of the top 10 richest people in the world, in Bitcoin.
10. Matthew Roszark
Matthew Roszark is the founder of Tally Capital, and co-founder of Bloq. Roszark is widely known as the man who gave Richard Branson and Bill Clinton their first Bitcoins. Roszark made it early into the Bitcoin space and participated in the very first ICO in 2013. Although that wasn’t what it was called at the time.
Roszark has investments in 20 startups in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, some of which have gone ahead to do great things. Some of the startups that he invested in include Coinbase, Kraken and BTCC.
Roszark’s net worth is $1 billion, which amounts to 102,712.94 BTC (at the time of writing).
  1. Anthony Di Iorio
Anthony Di lorio is the founder of Jaxx and Decentral, and co-founder at Ethereum. Having studied a bit of economics and trying to find out the true essence of money after the recession of early 2000, Di lorio discovered Bitcoin and decided to explore. He started a Toronto Bitcoin-meetup, where he met his eventual co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin.
Di lorio contributed his personal funds towards the coding of Ethereum, and has since been involved in a number of other crypto assets. Some of them include Qtum, VeChain and ZCash.
Di lorio is a serial investor who commits to projects at an early stage, then after levelling up, he pulls his funds and moves on to something new. His net worth of $1 billion is the equivalent of 102,712.93 BTC.
  1. Michael Novogratz
This CEO of Galaxy Digital is also popular in the field of macro hedge fund management. Novogratz started investing in cryptocurrencies in 2013 and two years later he left his position at Fortress Investment Group to focus on crypto.
In the cryptocurrency industry, Novogratz is known as a seasoned trader who believes that the crypto market as it is today is a bubble. According to him, his aim is to make as much money as possible from the bubble before it bursts.
Novogratz is worth $1 billion which is the equivalent of 102,712.92 BTC
  1. Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss
The Winklevoss twins arrived in the face of the public through the controversial law suit against Facebook for intellectual property theft. They eventually won the case and were paid $11 million in compensation.
With many Silicon Valley startups not wanting to get into Facebook’s black book, the twins seemed to not have where to invest their money. They were introduced to Bitcoin by Brooklyn-based investor David Azar in 2012, and found their new investment ecosystem.
Over the years, the astronomic rise in Bitcoin price has turned their $11 million investment to a $1 billion portfolio of 102,712.91 BTC.
  1. Matthew Mellon
Matthew Mellon’s money started as old money which he inherited from family sources. However, through his “crazy” investment approach, he has been able to build a fortune out of his family inheritance.
Having bought into Bitcoin some years ago, Mellon abandoned his early investments and sold his Bitcoins at some point. His attachment with the banking industry and the XRP feasibility attracted him to the coin.
Mellon spent $2 million to acquire XRP tokens a few years back. That investment has grown to $1 billion, in the equivalence of 102,712.90 BTC.
  1. Zhao Chaopeng
Zhao Chaopeng popularly known as CZ, is the founder of cryptocurrency exchange, Binance. Within one year of its launch, Binance became the largest cryptocurrency exchange in terms of volume.
The platform’s tokens were sold at a price of 10 cents during its ICO. At the time of writing, the price of the coin has risen to over $27 and CZ owns a huge volume of the coins.
In 2014, CZ sold his house in Shanghai, which was practically all he had, to go all out into Bitcoin. Today, his net worth is $1.3 billion, which is equivalent to 133,523.65 BTC.
  1. Brian Armstrong
Brian Armstrong is the CEO of Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in America. Coinbase was founded in 2012, and is the most patronized cryptocurrency exchange in the US. The exchange has also expanded, and is now available in many countries of the world.

Armstrong’s net worth stands at $1.3 billion, with equates to 133,523.64 BTC.
  1. Jihan Wu
Johan Wu is the co-founder of Bitmain, a China-based Bitcoin mining giant. Together with Micree Zhan Ketuan, they have grown Bitmain to become a household name in the industry, and the main supplier of ASIC-chip miners. Wu is also popular for his open support of Bitcoin Cash.
Wu is estimated to be worth up to $1.5 billion, which translates in Bitcoin to 154,065.75 BTC.
  1. Chris Larsen
Chris Larsen is the co-founder of Ripple, a company which was founded in 2012 with Jed McCaleb, the founder of Mt Gox.
Larsen is regarded as a self-made billionaire, with the bulk of his wealth coming from cryptocurrency enterprises. Ripple boasts many top end customers in its portfolio. Among the list includes Bank of America, Santander and Mitsubishi Financial.
Larsen’s net worth is estimated at $1.5 billion, which is equivalent to 154,065.74 BTC.
  1. Micree Zhan Ketuan
Zhan is the co-founder of Bitmain technologies. Bitmain is regarded as the biggest Bitcoin mining company in China. The company is also known to specialize in the sale of ASIC-chip miners.
Zhan is an electrical engineer by training and is the builder of the ASIC chips on the Bitmain hardware. He is an acclaimed self-made billionaire whose source of wealth is the manufacturing and sales of cryptocurrency mining chips.
Zhan’s net worth is estimated at $2.7 billion, which when converted to Bitcoin is 215,692.05 BTC.
Conclusion
The dominant investment industry concept is evolutionary. At different eras of existence, different industries have produced different money magnates. Serial investors at the same time have found ways of aligning with the prevailing markets as the times change.
With the advent of Bitcoin and blockchain technology, the digital assets ecosystem appears to be making a strong statement in the wealth sector. The number of self made billionaires within this sector is a testimony to the impact of this concept in today’s world.
The top 10 richest people in the world, in Bitcoin, parades some names that can stand side-by-side with money magnates of traditional industries. With more developments likely to emerge in the crypto ecosystem, it will not be surprising to see the number of crypto-made billionaire skyrocket in the near future.

All About Zcoin

All About Zcoin

https://preview.redd.it/hixbz9f3lxm31.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43896de84a3693d840c84057c0314af71718f0a3
What is Zcoin?
Zcoin, also referred to as XZC or Zerocoin, is an open source decentralized cryptocurrency that provides privacy and anonymity for its users when making transactions.
To achieve its privacy and anonymity, Zcoin uses zero-knowledge proofs via the Zerocoin protocol, which is at this moment in time one of the most cited cryptography papers.
According to Wikipedia, in cryptography, a zero-knowledge proof or zero-knowledge protocol is a method in which one party proves to another party (the verifier) that a given statement is actually true.
In other words, in a transaction with Bitcoin or Ethereum or something similar, your transaction history is always linked to your coins by default, leaving you vulnerable. All it takes is one link to your personal information or IP to find out the origin of the coins.
However, when you trade with Zcoin’s Zercoin feature, your transaction history is not linked to the actual coins. Only the receiver and sender know that the funds have actually been exchanged.

How Does Zcoin Work?

Zcoin works on the Zerocoin protocol by enforcing Zero-knowledge proofs. Here are the components of Zcoin to explain how it works.
Mint: When sending a private transaction with Zcoin, all you need to do is select the number of coins you want to mint. Post that your normal Zcoin balance would reduce automatically and you will be credited with new coins and no transaction history. In essence, your old coins are burned cryptographically, which prevents anyone else from using them again and being directed to your transaction history. You get credited with new coins with no history, while the total supply is maintained.
For now, you can only mint in denominations of 1, 10, 25, 50 and 100. If you choose ‘100’ coins to be minted, for instance, you will instantly be credited with 100 new Zcoins with no history attached to them.
  • Spend: When you want to make a private transaction, you will be required to use these ‘100’ newly minted coins. From this pool of funds, you can now send any amount in any denomination to anyone anonymously because no history is attached to it.
  • Repeat: You can ‘mint’ and ‘send’ Zcoins any number of times at anytime with your privacy intact.

Zcoin’s Vision

Zcoin seeks to improve things that Bitcoin hasn’t been able to so far, some of which include fungibility, privacy and miner’s centralization.
Users of Zcoin can enjoy full fungibility and privacy along with demolishing miner’s centralization by implementing a better proof of work algorithm called MTP.
Total Zcoin supply
Only 21 million units of Zcoin will ever be produced. Currently, there are about 3.4 million units in circulation, with the rest yet to be mined.
But the total supply has increased by 388450 XZC units after a Zcoin code bug, which the team refused to roll back due to economic reasons, which is why the total supply stands at approximately 21.4 million.
Every 10 minutes, a Zcoin block is mined and 50 coins are generated, making 72,000 Zcoins per day.
Market cap of Zcoin
According to CoinMarketCap, the total circulating supply of Zcoin is 5,757,841 XZC and the current unit price is $9.6. That makes the market cap approximately $55 million*.*

Zcash:
Zcash is a decentralized and open-source peer-to-peer cryptocurrency that provides strong privacy protections. It was created as a fork of Bitcoin and, like bitcoin, it also has a hard limit of 21 million coins. Unlike bitcoin, however, Zcash offers total privacy for its users maintaining the absolute anonymity behind each transaction along with the parties and the amounts involved in it.
PIVX:
PIVX, which stands for Private Instant Verified Transaction, is an open-source, decentralized form of digital online money that uses blockchain technology. This makes it easy to transfer all around the world in an instant with low transaction fees with market leading security & privacy. PIVX focuses on privacy, security, anonymity, and instant transactions.
Monero:
Monero is a fast, private, secure and untraceable digital currency system that uses a special kind of cryptography to keep all its transactions 100% unlinkable and untraceable. With Monero, you are your own bank. You can spend safely, knowing that others cannot see your balances or track your activity.
Some Zcoin misconceptions
There are some misconceptions regarding Zcoin:
  • Some believe that, since Zcoin has a trusted setup that allows indefinite minting of coins, it is not safe. This is untrue. Of course, to start with they had to use a trusted setup because they have an auditable total coin supply that prevents any form of cheating. This downside however, is being taken care of by removing this trusted setup in the near future and when that happens, Zcoin will be one of the serious coins to count on for privacy.
  • Zcoin has been considered as Zcash’s fork but that is also not true because Zcash is based on the Zerocash protocol whereas Zcoin was started from scratch by applying Zerocoin tech.
Now that some of the Zcoin’s misconceptions have been cleared, here’s a look into its future.

Zcoin’s Future & Roadmap

Zcoin’s future is quite promising and worth watching based on these interesting milestones on their roadmap:
  • Zcoin is the first coin to implement MTP proof of work, which makes it possible for general masses to mine Zcoin with GPUs and CPUs. MTP doesn’t allow costly ASIC-like miners to mine XZC coins.
  • Zcoin is also implementing Znodes to make their cryptocurrency more decentralized and anonymous. These Znodes will be like masternodes and facilitate anonymous transactions as making an anonymous transaction single-handedly is quite computational.
  • Znodes will be incentivized by reducing some portion of the founder’s reward. Also, the surplus funds that get generated from the founder’s reward reduction would be used for hiring new developers and increased marketing efforts.
  • Another agenda on their roadmap is to bring inbuilt Tor or some IP obfuscation mechanism that will make it completely anonymous.
  • Apart from these, some innovative and exciting things like sigma protocol, decentralized anonymous voting and Zcoin Labs are on their roadmap, making this project worth checking out.
  • Last but not least, its recent price is a good indicator of its healthy market sentiment and shows that there are people who understand this project’s worth. Just to put things into perspective – a unit of Zcoin was priced $2 in March 2017 and now it is $37*.*

Zcoin Team & Progress

Zerocoin is a cryptocurrency proposed by professor Matthew D. Green, a professor of Johns Hopkins University, and graduate students Ian Miers and Christina Garman. It was proposed as an extension to the Bitcoin protocol that would add true cryptographic anonymity to Bitcoin transactions.
Zerocoin was first implemented into a fully functional cryptocurrency and released to the public by Poramin Insom, the lead developer, as Zcoin in September 2016.
Some of the notable dev members of the team are listed below.
Poramin Insom

Unique/Key Features Against Its Competitors:

  • Anonymous transactions. The project establishes a notably higher level of anonymity and seeks to bypass current analysis techniques which governments use to reveal the identity of users.
  • Not subject to transaction graph analysis. Zcoin has an anonymity set that encompasses all minted coins in a particular RSA accumulator that can scale to many thousands.
  • Innovative process. Tokens are burned cryptographically and replaced with new coins without a transaction history. This actively prevents anyone else from using the tokens again and stops the public from being directed to a user's transaction history.
  • Transparency focused. Zcoin's main advantage is its auditable money supply.

After bitcoin failed near the $8,500 resistance, there was a downside correction against the US Dollar. The BTC/USD traded below the $8,400 and $8,300 levels. Moreover, there was a break below the $8,200 level. However, the 100 hourly simple moving average acted as a support and a low was formed near $8,175. Recently, the price started a fresh increase and traded above the $8,300 level.
There was a break above the 50% Fib retracement level of the last decline from the $8,536 high to $8,175 low. The price climbed above the $8,350 level and tested the $8,400 resistance. It seems like the 61.8% Fib retracement level of the last decline from the $8,536 high to $8,175 low is currently acting as a resistance. If there is an upside break above $8,400, the price is likely to retest $8,500.
If the bulls manage to surpass the $8,500 barrier, there are chances of more upsides. The next stop for them could be near the $8,800 level. The next key resistance area is near the $9,000 level. On the downside, there is a decent support forming near the $8,250 and $8,200 levels. Moreover, there is a new connecting bullish trend line forming with support near $8,300 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair.

Crypto and the Latency Arms Race: Crypto Exchanges and the HFT Crowd

Crypto and the Latency Arms Race: Crypto Exchanges and the HFT Crowd

News by Coindesk: Max Boonen
Carrying on from an earlier post about the evolution of high frequency trading (HFT), how it can harm markets and how crypto exchanges are responding, here we focus on the potential longer-term impact on the crypto ecosystem.
First, though, we need to focus on the state of HFT in a broader context.

Conventional markets are adopting anti-latency arbitrage mechanisms

In conventional markets, latency arbitrage has increased toxicity on lit venues and pushed trading volumes over-the-counter or into dark pools. In Europe, dark liquidity has increased in spite of efforts by regulators to clamp down on it. In some markets, regulation has actually contributed to this. Per the SEC:
“Using the Nasdaq market as a proxy, [Regulation] NMS did not seem to succeed in its mission to increase the display of limit orders in the marketplace. We have seen an increase in dark liquidity, smaller trade sizes, similar trading volumes, and a larger number of “small” venues.”
Why is non-lit execution remaining or becoming more successful in spite of its lower transparency? In its 2014 paper, BlackRock came out in favour of dark pools in the context of best execution requirements. It also lamented message congestion and cautioned against increasing tick sizes, features that advantage latency arbitrageurs. (This echoes the comment to CoinDesk of David Weisberger, CEO of Coinroutes, who explained that the tick sizes typical of the crypto market are small and therefore do not put slower traders at much of a disadvantage.)
Major venues now recognize that the speed race threatens their business model in some markets, as it pushes those “slow” market makers with risk-absorbing capacity to provide liquidity to the likes of BlackRock off-exchange. Eurex has responded by implementing anti-latency arbitrage (ALA) mechanisms in options:
“Right now, a lot of liquidity providers need to invest more into technology in order to protect themselves against other, very fast liquidity providers, than they can invest in their pricing for the end client. The end result of this is a certain imbalance, where we have a few very sophisticated liquidity providers that are very active in the order book and then a lot of liquidity providers that have the ability to provide prices to end clients, but are tending to do so more away from the order book”, commented Jonas Ullmann, Eurex’s head of market functionality. Such views are increasingly supported by academic research.
XTX identifies two categories of ALA mechanisms: policy-based and technology-based. Policy-based ALA refers to a venue simply deciding that latency arbitrageurs are not allowed to trade on it. Alternative venues to exchanges (going under various acronyms such as ECN, ATS or MTF) can allow traders to either take or make, but not engage in both activities. Others can purposefully select — and advertise — their mix of market participants, or allow users to trade in separate “rooms” where undesired firms are excluded. The rise of “alternative microstructures” is mostly evidenced in crypto by the surge in electronic OTC trading, where traders can receive better prices than on exchange.
Technology-based ALA encompasses delays, random or deterministic, added to an exchange’s matching engine to reduce the viability of latency arbitrage strategies. The classic example is a speed bump where new orders are delayed by a few milliseconds, but the cancellation of existing orders is not. This lets market makers place fresh quotes at the new prevailing market price without being run over by latency arbitrageurs.
As a practical example, the London Metal Exchange recently announced an eight-millisecond speed bump on some contracts that are prime candidates for latency arbitrageurs due to their similarity to products trading on the much bigger CME in Chicago.
Why 8 milliseconds? First, microwave transmission between Chicago and the US East Coast is 3 milliseconds faster than fibre optic lines. From there, the $250,000 a month Hibernia Express transatlantic cable helps you get to London another 4 milliseconds faster than cheaper alternatives. Add a millisecond for internal latencies such as not using FPGAs and 8 milliseconds is the difference for a liquidity provider between investing tens of millions in speed technology or being priced out of the market by latency arbitrage.
With this in mind, let’s consider what the future holds for crypto.

Crypto exchanges must not forget their retail roots

We learn from conventional markets that liquidity benefits from a diverse base of market makers with risk-absorption capacity.
Some have claimed that the spread compression witnessed in the bitcoin market since 2017 is due to electronification. Instead, I posit that it is greater risk-absorbing capacity and capital allocation that has improved the liquidity of the bitcoin market, not an increase in speed, as in fact being a fast exchange with colocation such as Gemini has not supported higher volumes. Old-timers will remember Coinsetter, a company that, per the Bitcoin Wiki , “was created in 2012, and operates a bitcoin exchange and ECN. Coinsetter’s CSX trading technology enables millisecond trade execution times and offers one of the fastest API data streams in the industry.” The Wiki page should use the past tense as Coinsetter failed to gain traction, was acquired in 2016 and subsequently closed.
Exchanges that invest in scalability and user experience will thrive (BitMEX comes to mind). Crypto exchanges that favour the fastest traders (by reducing jitter, etc.) will find that winner-takes-all latency strategies do not improve liquidity. Furthermore, they risk antagonising the majority of their users, who are naturally suspicious of platforms that sell preferential treatment.
It is baffling that the head of Russia for Huobi vaunted to CoinDesk that: “The option [of co-location] allows [selected clients] to make trades 70 to 100 times faster than other users”. The article notes that Huobi doesn’t charge — but of course, not everyone can sign up.
Contrast this with one of the most successful exchanges today: Binance. It actively discourages some HFT strategies by tracking metrics such as order-to-trade ratios and temporarily blocking users that breach certain limits. Market experts know that Binance remains extremely relevant to price discovery, irrespective of its focus on a less professional user base.
Other exchanges, take heed.
Coinbase closed its entire Chicago office where 30 engineers had worked on a faster matching engine, an exercise that is rumoured to have cost $50mm. After much internal debate, I bet that the company finally realised that it wouldn’t recoup its investment and that its value derived from having onboarded 20 million users, not from upgrading systems that are already fast and reliable by the standards of crypto.
It is also unsurprising that Kraken’s Steve Hunt, a veteran of low-latency torchbearer Jump Trading, commented to CoinDesk that: “We want all customers regardless of size or scale to have equal access to our marketplace”. Experience speaks.
In a recent article on CoinDesk , Matt Trudeau of ErisX points to the lower reliability of cloud-based services compared to dedicated, co-located and cross-connected gateways. That much is true. Web-based technology puts the emphasis on serving the greatest number of users concurrently, not on serving a subset of users deterministically and at the lowest latency possible. That is the point. Crypto might be the only asset class that is accessible directly to end users with a low number of intermediaries, precisely because of the crypto ethos and how the industry evolved. It is cheaper to buy $500 of bitcoin than it is to buy $500 of Microsoft shares.
Trudeau further remarks that official, paid-for co-location is better than what he pejoratively calls “unsanctioned colocation,” the fact that crypto traders can place their servers in the same cloud providers as the exchanges. The fairness argument is dubious: anyone with $50 can set up an Amazon AWS account and run next to the major crypto exchanges, whereas cheap co-location starts at $1,000 a month in the real world. No wonder “speed technology revenues” are estimated at $1 billion for the major U.S. equity exchanges.
For a crypto exchange, to reside in a financial, non-cloud data centre with state-of-the-art network latencies might ironically impair the likelihood of success. The risk is that such an exchange becomes dominated on the taker side by the handful of players that already own or pay for the fastest communication routes between major financial data centres such as Equinix and the CME in Chicago, where bitcoin futures are traded. This might reduce liquidity on the exchange because a significant proportion of the crypto market’s risk-absorption capacity is coming from crypto-centric funds that do not have the scale to operate low-latency strategies, but might make up the bulk of the liquidity on, say, Binance. Such mom-and-pop liquidity providers might therefore shun an exchange that caters to larger players as a priority.

Exchanges risk losing market share to OTC liquidity providers

While voice trading in crypto has run its course, a major contribution to the market’s increase in liquidity circa 2017–2018 was the risk appetite of the original OTC voice desks such as Cumberland Mining and Circle.
Automation really shines in bringing together risk-absorbing capacity tailored to each client (which is impossible on anonymous exchanges) with seamless electronic execution. In contrast, latency-sensitive venues can see liquidity evaporate in periods of stress, as happened to a well-known and otherwise successful exchange on 26 June which saw its bitcoin order book become $1,000 wide for an extended period of time as liquidity providers turned their systems off. The problem is compounded by the general unavailability of credit on cash exchanges, an issue that the OTC market’s settlement model avoids.
As the crypto market matures, the business model of today’s major cash exchanges will come under pressure. In the past decade, the FX market has shown that retail traders benefit from better liquidity when they trade through different channels than institutional speculators. Systematic internalizers demonstrate the same in equities. This fact of life will apply to crypto. Exchanges have to pick a side: either cater to retail (or retail-driven intermediaries) or court HFTs.
Now that an aggregator like Tagomi runs transaction cost analysis for their clients, it will become plainly obvious to investors with medium-term and long-term horizons (i.e. anyone not looking at the next 2 seconds) that their price impact on exchange is worse than against electronic OTC liquidity providers.
Today, exchange fee structures are awkward because they must charge small users a lot to make up for crypto’s exceptionally high compliance and onboarding costs. Onboarding a single, small value user simply does not make sense unless fees are quite elevated. Exchanges end up over-charging large volume traders such as B2C2’s clients, another incentive to switch to OTC execution.
In the alternative, what if crypto exchanges focus on HFT traders? In my opinion, the CME is a much better venue for institutional takers as fees are much lower and conventional trading firms will already be connected to it. My hypothesis is that most exchanges will not be able to compete with the CME for fast traders (after all, the CBOE itself gave up), and must cater to their retail user base instead.
In a future post, we will explore other microstructures beyond all-to-all exchanges and bilateral OTC trading.

In 2018, the exchange embarked on a financing round that saw it raise $300 million, and the company is now valued at $8 billion.

The Growth Of Crypto Exchanges

The Growth Of Crypto Exchanges

https://preview.redd.it/3j0ncan5cme31.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb4084dbb21b395146d9ef152a6aaba3f76a868e
Bitcoin was created in 2009, since then a whole industry has emerged around it. One major group of players in the industry are the crypto exchanges. Even though it did not roll out in 2009 with Bitcoin, this sector is responsible for a lot of the development that has happened around Bitcoin and crypto. By taking a look at the growth of crypto exchanges, you will understand how the entire industry has evolved.
First of all, let us consider the existing crypto exchanges and how they have evolved over the years. Here is a list of some of the major exchanges and their launch dates (year):
Exchange Launch Dates (By Year)
  • 2010 – Mt Gox
  • 2011 – BitPay, BitStamp, BTC-e, Kraken
  • 2012 – Bitfinex, Coinbase, LocalBitcoins.
  • 2013 – Bitcoin Suisse AG, BitGo, BitMain, BitPesa, Bittrex, CEX.IO, Coinfloor, Huobi, ShapeShift.
  • 2014 – BitMex, Coincheck, OKEx, Xapo, Poloniex, KuCoin
  • 2015 – Bitwala
  • 2016 – BuyUcoin
  • 2017 – Binance
The above list is not exhaustive, however, a closer look at it reveals a trend that has been key to how Bitcoin has developed over the years. This trend, which coincides with the growth of crypto exchanges reveals how important that singular sector has become in the life of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
2013 Was an Important Year in the History of Cryptocurrencies
The year 2013 has the highest number of new exchanges that came to life. This is the year that we can attach to the initial boost in the awareness of Bitcoin. Even the infamous Mt Gox, which started in 2010, became very popular in 2013. By this time, it was handling over 70% of all Bitcoins worldwide.
Bitcoin’s first attempt at the $1,000 mark was also in 2013. It was after this rise that it entered into the first crypto winter which lasted until the second half of 2016. That was when the biggest boom kicked in, dragging us through 2017 until an all time high price was achieved in January 2018.
A lot of other exchanges that are not listed above have also come into existence, especially after the 2017 exceptional price surge. Having coincided with the ICO boom era, the price surge happened when many projects were still in incubation. Among them were also a lot of exchanges.
New Generation Exchanges
Between 2017 to date, what we will choose to call a new generation of exchanges have made their presence known and contributed to the growth of crypto exchanges. Some of them include LAToken, Shortex, Bitforex, BitMax and many others. What these exchanges have been able to achieve is expansion in the industry and increased accessibility to users across the globe.
As many as they are, even as their primary goal is to provide access for users in the industry, the kind of services that the exchanges provide vary. It is the uniqueness of their services that determine the class of customers that particular exchanges attract. Some of them offer margin trading services, while others don’t. Some are strictly cryptocurrency exchanges, while others allow fiat transactions. The variations are too numerous to mention and can be confusing to users at times.
The good thing today is that platforms like tap have found solutions that harmonize the activities of the numerous exchanges and allow users to access them from a single point. Be it crypto-to-crypto trading, or crypto-to-fiat transactions, all can be executed on fiat.
The crypto-enabled transactions and other related services that tap offers cannot be exhausted in this post. However, it is interesting to note that for traders, or those who make use of the tap prepaid MastercardⓇ, the platform ensures that the best prices are provided for them. This is achieved through a software that scans through multiple exchanges to select the most competitive price whenever a trade or transaction is initiated.
Innovations such as this, and many more that we are seeing today all contribute to the growth of crypto exchanges and the expansion of the industry at large.

After analysing the entire Top100 and possible competitors outside of the Top100, I have built my 2018 100x portfolio

Introduction

Last week I posted a comprehensive summary of all top 100 coins, the first of its kind, at least I don’t know another site that has a similar summary, that’s why I made it in the first place. While putting the summary together, I noticed that all coins can be categorized into only 12 markets.
I also received a lot of comments and was able to use the feedback to further improve all description and 700 parameters to get as close to factual descriptions as possible. https://www.reddit.com/CryptoCurrency/comments/8a8lnwhich_are_your_top_5_favourite_coins_out_of_the/
This was all done with the goal in mind to find a portfolio that can go 100x through 2018. The portfolio is based on 3 factors.
  1. Bitcoin will go up by 4x ($32,000) until the end of 2018 amassing a total market cap of 3$ trillion. At this point, Bitcoin will be worth $500M, and altcoins $2,5 trillion, placing Bitcoin dominance at 18%. Currently, it is at 39%.
  2. The fact that altcoins go up at a much higher rate than Bitcoin. The smaller the market cap, the more an altcoin will go up, e.g. BNTY ($8M) will probably go up 200x to $160M, PRL ($50M) 100x to $5B, Nano ($1b) 30x to $30B, while Bitcoin goes up 4x. That's why it is much better to invest in Altcoins than in Bitcoin. Sure, Altcoins also go down much more than Bitcoin, but this portfolio is a year long hold.
  3. The most important rule is not to invest more money than you can afford to lose. The second most important rule in investing is to diversify your investments into high rish (crypto, startups), medium risk (stock options, index funds) and low risk (real estate, pension) assets also while diversifying into different markets, so that not all eggs are in one basket, since some markets might die out and some will take off big time. You want to not be affected as much by dying markets, but you also want to definitely be in the successful markets. We are doing the same thing in our crypto portfolio, where we have at least 1 coin in all 12 markets. The market cloud computing was excluded, because it is rather small and uncertain.
For that reason, the portfolio is divided into approximately
  1. 25% High risk high return coins, which yield a return from 20x if they fail to deliver -1000x if they deliver or from a $10M market cap to a $200M-$10B market cap
  2. 50% Medium risk medium return coins, which yield a return from 50x if they underperform -200x if they deliver or from a $100M market cap to a $5B-$20B market cap
  3. 25% Low risk low return coins, which yield a return from 10x if they fail to deliver - 100x if they deliver or from a $1B market cap to a $10B-$100B market cap
You may ask, Nano, BNB, IOTA, VeChain will have a $100B market cap? Yes, this will happen if the Nano and/or IOTA network does what it's supposed to, because they will be faster, have no fees and use almost no energy to run and possibly replace Bitcoin. This can only happen if Nano and IOTA are able to process 100,000 TPS without losing decentralization and security. However, if they do as promised, Bitcoin will have to innovate very quickly to keep up. This also largely depends on how well the Lightning Network is able to scale up TPS, 50,000 TPS is good and will make Bitcoin able to keep Nano and IOTA in check, but with less TPS, it will be more problematic.

Portfolio

All coins are on Binance or KuCoin, except Saga and Sumo, which are on Cryptopia. All coins and their weights are listed on the second tab of my excel spread sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s8PHcNvvjuy848q18py_CGcu8elRGQAUIf86EYh4QZo/edit#gid=1597706888
High risk high return 21%: 20x-1000x ($200M-$3b)
These coins are supposed to have one 1000x-er coin among them. Ideally, you don’t want too many coins in here, because these coins are very early in development or unproven, so they could fizzle out and not give you a good return. However, you also don’t want too few coins in here, because you definitely want to catch the 1000x-er. 3 coins is most probably the sweet spot between having enough coins to catch a 1000x-er and havong not too many coins, so that even if you catch a 1000x-er, you only have 3% of your investment in it and it doesn’t return much. You could potentially add a 4th coin, but I didn’t find any other coin with a >$10M market cap that has very high potential and is in a strong market. Ideally, you want to exactly catch one 1000x-er, because it will make up for 50% of the returns of your portfolio. However, you don’t want to have more 1000x-ers to catch than 1, because there is no difference to only catching 1 with 8% invested in it to catching 2 with 4% each invested, only that the latter is much harder.
Realistically speaking, you might catch a 200x-er among these coins, if you’re lucky, a 1000x-er.
  1. 8% BNTY is a platform where you can earn money through finding bugs, a bug bounty. BNTY soon wants to expand into “bounties” for gigs, like on fiverr or freelancer.com.
  2. 7% Sumo is a privacy coin, similar to Monero.
  3. 6% Saga is a stable coin out of the 6 that currently exist but with a tiny market cap besides Maker, DGD, USDT, Havven, Carbon. For risk mitigation, they are backed by Ycombinator and their team is comprised of Stanford graduates.
Medium risk medium return 55%: 20x-200x ($2B-$20B)
These are the backbone of the portfolio, all legit projects with a product out already, a strong team, strong community and a potent market. All of these coins will probably make a 20x return and some a 100x-200x, possibly PRL, GAS and ENJ, that’s why they have more weight than the others.
  1. 10% PRL is in the decentralized data storage market as Siacoin, Gbyte, Maidsafecoin, Storj, only that it has a 5x smaller market cap and that it actually makes the storage useful by allowing people who store other people’s files to renounce ads and instead make their money through storing files.
  2. 13% Gas is an investment in NEO. It has been rumoured that GAS market cap will surpass NEO’s. For that reason, it is the same as investing in NEO, LISK, ARDR, etc. only that is has a 10x smaller market cap
  3. 9% ENJ is the investment in the gaming market. Enjin has a platform with already 15 million players and has already finalized a partnership with Minecraft
  4. 7% Enigma is privacy for smart contracts on Ethereum
  5. 6% Req is in the currency and liquidity exchange market just as QASH, Loopring, Cryptonex, bitshares, Kyber network, Bancor, ZRX, Achain, only that Req has probably the strongest community of all and is also more feature rich
  6. 7% Steem is the investment in social network coins. Steem can possibly replace reddit and already has an alexa rank of 1,000.
  7. 3% PIVX is the investment in privacy coins. PIVX has slightly superior technology than Monero at a 10x smaller market cap.
Low risk low return 24%: 10x-50x ($10B-$50B)
These are the safest bets with a working product, a large community and among the most potential within the top100. Out of these, BNB is probably the safest bet of all, because it is directly tied to Binance, the exchange that has made it as the undisputed number 1 exchange due to excellent professionalism, transparency and intelligent leadership.
  1. 8% Vechain The most popular coin of all probably right now. Vechain is a supply chain platform
  2. 4% Nano Probably the fastest and most lightweight cryptocurrency right now with instant transactions, zero fees and one millionth the energy use of Bitcoin due to it’s 3rd generation blockchain, the block lattice.
  3. 7% IOTA Similar to Nano with instant transactions, zero fees, very low energy thanks to its 3rd generation blockchain the tangle. While it has bigger potential than Nano, it also still has some bugs and security issues to work out.
  4. 5% BNB, probably the safest of all
Here are the coins categorized into their respective markets.
Currency 11% 1. 4% Nano 2. 7% IOTA Platform 27% =38% 1. 8% Vechain 2. 6% Req 3. 13% GAS Misc 18% = 56% 1. 10% PRL 2. 8% BNTY Privacy 19% = 75% 1. 7% Enigma 2. 3% PIVX 3. 9% SUMO Gaming 9% = 84% 1. 9% ENJ Fee token 5% = 89% 1. 5% BNB Social Networking 7% = 96% 1. 7% Steem Stablecoin 5% = 100% 1. 5% Saga

Summary

All in all, the high risk coins are expected to include 1 1000x coin, which would be achieved with Sumo going to only $3B, BTNY $8B or Saga to $4B. Since probably only one of these coins make it, the rest will probably perform somewhere around 100x, thus yielding a 200x return.
Medium risk coins are expected to have 2 coins out of 8 to perform at 200x, which would make them go from around $100m to $20B. The rest will probably perform somewhere around 50x, thus yielding a 100x overall return.
Low risk coins are expected to have 1 coins out of 4 to perform at 50x, which would make them go from around $1B to $50B. The rest will probably perform somewhere around 20x, thus yielding a 30x overall return.
The high risk coins will probably give a 200x return including 1 1000x-er with a bit of luck, the medium risk coins 100x return with probably 1 or 2 200x-ers and the low risk coins possibly 30x with 1 50x with a bit of luck. This gives us a total return of 2000.21(42%) + 1000.55(55%) + 30*0.24(7.2%) = 104x.
In case, we don't catch a 1000x-er in the high risk coins, the total return would be 1000.21(21%) + 1000.55(55%) + 30*0.24(7.2%) = 66x.
To sum it up, I don’t know if Bitcoin will go 2x, 3x or 5x. However, it is not unlikely for Bitcoin to do this. Maybe it will even go up 20x like in the last bull run, maybe 30x. Maybe the total market cap will be $10 trillion in 2019, no one knows.
You would have called me crazy last year if I had said that bitcoin will go from $1,000 to $20,000 within 12 months. Now, we are in the same situation again and there will probably several more 20x bull runs with a 70% correction. It has happened plenty of times before and it will happen again.
The last bull runs were
  1. 5x within 6 months in 2012,
  2. 35x within 9 months in 2013
  3. 20x within 5 months in 2013
  4. 11x within 24 months in 2017
  5. 20x within 7 months in 2017
  6. 15x within 8 months in 2018?
Not including the first bull run, the average bull run was 22x.

Bytecoin: The sleeping Giant

You know the friend a little 'silent, the one who likes to remain silent, the average was thin and shy but all of a sudden you see him six or seven years later finding him beautiful, athletic and self-confident? Here, that friend there is the Bytecoin and later you will understand better why ...
PREMISE: Currently, in a market so inclined to the maneuverability put in place by some users or organized bodies called "whales" more commonly, able to exploit the low total capitalization and the huge amount of money in their possession, we have been able to see the power of information also deliberately diverted for remuneration, to generate the right FUD or FOMO in order to profit by anticipating market trends. The purpose of the following article is not to give a financial advice, but to give readers the opportunity to have a broader view of the current scenario so as not to be easily influenced by market trends and circulating fake news basing their own chosen exclusively on their reasoning.
Let's start with a brief "historical" sign that we need to better understand what will come later. Bytecoin (BCN) was born in 2012 with deep fractures within the DEVteam that gave birth without arousing some kind of enthusiasm so much that since its birth, the protocol was forked several times giving rise to countless currencies based on the same algorithm. One of them was Monero, one of the most appreciated privacy coin together with Dash, Zcash.
Slowly the interest around the BCN project was extinguished in favor of the competition and for a few years Bytecoin went through a placid dormant phase in which the most incompetent and alleged "crypto trader" accused the project in several ways, knowing that the NCB it was a giant sleeper and it was better to remove it as soon as possible .... or at least they tried it; a giant is always better to bury him in which case he would wake up bringing problems for everyone and unfortunately for them, this just happened. With the new development team, Bytecoin started its own awakening, slow but steady. He began to attract investors, to collect consents and one step at a time he came to settle permanently in the Top 30 of Coin Market Cap, a first signal that perhaps the detractors have not been able to grasp, or have not taken seriously ... worse for their! Bytecoin users have been trying to push so many tokens "burned" all the time, but the team, focusing on the development of a blockchain and a wallet more powerful and reliable as well as on present and future partnerships, has always categorically opposed and later we will understand why. As I said the DevTeam has continued to tighten agreements, release material and update the technology at the base of the project and this inevitably led some big exchanges to sniff out the INCREDIBLE earning potential. A few weeks ago a well-known Chinese company, leader in the mining sector, declared the release of the first ASIC able to undermine the cryptonight protocol. Among the general rejection by the currencies based on the aforementioned protocol, one remained silent once again letting the others say first what they thought and in the meantime the others rushed to the shelters by modifying the protocol in order to limit the functioning of the ASIC in the extraction process and masking this choice behind sudden and frankly ridiculous actions in favor of the community; Bytecoin instead, welcomed this news and supported the arrival of ASIC on its network. A few days later, "strangely", Bytecoin was listed on the largest exchange in the world BINANCE with a price explosion that saw him reach to reach 0.20% share ... coincidences it? The peculiarity of this coincidence lies not only in the fact that both the mining company ASIC and Binance are in China, but also that the BCN Blockchain is "apparently" collapsed not being "apparently" ... able to withstand the traffic generated . After a few days of confusion, the DEVteam worked to restore the Blockchain and release several updates to make this happen. After a week the price of the money settled on figures more in line with other exchanges and the situation returned to normal. Too bad that the competitors, who had worked so hard to throw mud on the project, had realized that the "sleeping giant" had woken up completely and while they were struggling to prevent the project from becoming usable and profitable for others as well as for them (see magic walls with disproportionate quantities appeared out of nowhere and vanishing), the Bytecoin project was strengthened and the currency had ended in the eyes of the world, thus attracting the interest of big investors and showing them a small part of its huge potential.
But the worst for the other privacy coin had not yet arrived ... Oh yeah! In parallel with the listing of BCN on Binance, Japan disclosed a list containing the best cryptocurrencies available on the market, recommending it to its investors and this list also included Bytecoin. A few days later however, Japan itself stated that the currencies based on the Cryptonight / Cryptonote algorithm as well as the other privacy coins were bad for the country by divulging the news that soon XMR together with DASH and ZCASH could have been delayed by many exchanges. In the list, however, Bytecoin did not appear continuing to remain the only currency based on that algorithm and with these peculiarities listed in the special list recommended by Japan. So many coincidences make a clue, many clues do a test would say ... Bytecoin is one step to become THE ONLY private currency used based on the Cryptonight algorithm and the blockchain test can be used to understand how many transactions succeeded in hold up and how many volumes he could manage. As a result, the team has resumed work on the new blockchain and soft fork, the huge amount of coins available will remain such because of the simple fact that will serve to cover the coin supply of competitors. Bytecoin has started its climb towards the monopoly of the Cryptonight algorithm and will soon replace all other competing currencies in the privacy markets. The price of now is a further confirmation as those who would not enter a project similar to these figures with the possibility of future gain that is expected? Simply connect the dots to the conclusion that Bytecoin will compensate for the purpose for which Bitcoin was born, not as a potential for growth in value or as ambition and quality of the project but as a use in everyday life. "The Sleeping Giant woke up and started climbing to the summit!" Observed the context in which it is moving Bytecoin and overflown on the technical features of the cryptonote protocol that you can read in several articles about it, let's come to the point on what might be one of the reasons why you are here, the price prediction. Given that no one can have the truth in his pocket, let alone think about it and draw some conclusions on the basis of concrete data. The motto "When Lambo?" And "When Moon?" Which are especially popular on the Telegram channel is also accompanied by "When 1 $?" And perhaps its users are not entirely wrong .... Bytecoin is therefore born with the intent to lend itself as a coin that can be spent in everyday life and this can already be seen from its roadmap which in the previous version was shown as follows:
Bytecoin Roadmap 2018
As you can see, the main focus concerns the markets and the circuit that will allow the issuance of a rechargeable credit card that will allow to spend their NCBs in all affiliated stores and that will make agreements with the team in the future. In order to make up for the purpose, a coin must be coined in large numbers and that is why you will have 184.47 million BCN circulating, of which 99.699% has already been mined. Other peculiarities that must have the coin to work, are the stability and a price easily identifiable by both the buyer and the seller. Unlikely after the "pizza day", a consumer would use a currency with high volatility or that constantly requires a calculator and a converter under the hand to be spent. The same goes for the shopkeepers, being paid X and seeing the profit go down is not one of the best hypotheses. Even the future possibility and already put in the pipeline to run projects on its own Blockchain would benefit from price stability. Companies wishing to let their projects run on the Bytecoin network have the same needs as a retailer to monitor their revenues without excessive price fluctuations, whether good or bad. If we add to this the peculiarity of BCN which is "anonymity", we can observe how the catchment area widens considerably adding to the simple consumers, a whole group of individuals who need this feature to protect their savings and that surely will be the crumbs owned by most of us. To this category are added all those who in the course of the regulations will suffer the ban of their countries, you can not take away what you are not able to CHECK! *** So, according to my humble opinion, the coveted price of $ 1 is a goal that can be reached in the medium term and can be satisfied when all the pieces are in place on the roadmap. *** The above may seem obvious and obvious now but you can see that this is not a summary of what has happened so far with data that objectively, each of you can go to check on the history. If you think instead that the tone is a bit 'too much conspiracy, you can always look elsewhere with the certainty that in the future we will have the opportunity to be able to compare again. To all the owners of Bytecoin I make the most heartfelt congratulations for the tenacity that will repay them when the picture is complete and I hope for them that they do not get lost in the waves of the market caused by the dreaded whales. Good Work DEV and best wishes !!!
